Help Neal on his road to recovery.

Some of you know that Neal has had a stroke in the past. On September 6, he suffered a much more serious stroke and was taken to the hospital. He was later transported to a larger hospital, where doctors identified the underlying problem: a severely blocked carotid artery.

On September 10, doctors successfully performed surgery on the blocked artery. Since then, Neal has worked hard in rehabilitation working through the loss of feeling on his left side. He has progressed from needing assistance with a walker to walking short distances, and he is able to do more each day. He is scheduled to be released from rehabilitation on Friday, October 9, but his recovery will continue long after he returns home.

At 62, Neal has spent his life creating and working with his hands. He is an artist, painter, contractor, and musician who can work on almost anything. He is also the person called for advice rather it is good or bad advice-haha. Whether it is construction or a project we never attempted, Dad always has an answer—or a way he would do it that ends up working. He is a husband, father, grandfather, and proud great-granddad.

Neal and his wife, Kathy, have been together for 38 years in Brownwood, TX. Kathy, his current support system, suffered a stroke at the end of January 2026 and had only recently returned to work. She has remained by Neal’s side throughout his hospitalization and rehabilitation returning to work part time 2 weeks ago. After a year that has tested them both, they need room to focus on healing rather than travel, medical, and household expenses.
